I watched the entire last round of the PGA Championship. I watched all of the post-round coverage I could stand.
In the interview room, Woody called out all of the media types for fawning all over Tiger. He was absolutely right.
Inga Hammond, from The Golf Channel, said ” … Tiger’s dominating victory.”
Dominating ? He won by two measley strokes. If Woody had made one more putt, Tiger would have had to make par on 18, which he did, or there would have been a playoff.
That’s hardly dominating.
Woody shot lower scores than Tiger two of the four days. They tied one day and obviously, Tiger’s 63 lead to him shooting a lower score than Woody one, single, solitary day.
That’s hardly dominating.
I’m no big fan of Tiger, as you can see, but he’s a heckuva player. He makes the most of his opportunities, most of the time.
He’s obliterated the field in the event at Firestone, the week before the PGA. Obliterated. Dominated. Decimated.
But in the PGA, if it was anyone besides Tiger, they would have said ” he held on to win by the slimmest of margins. “
Why does everybody fall all over themselves to pimp Tiger ? He wouldn’t walk across the street to pick you up if you were laying there bleeding.
If the media were to spend one week calling him out for all the on-air swearing, which we heard again, thanks to those mic’s that are everywhere, he’d be as pissy as a wet cat.
Great role model. Hit a poor shot and curse God. That’s a great system to teach our youth.
I’ll guarantee you this, if he were to be treated the same as Woody and Phil, he’d quit talking to the media. His ego wouldn’t be able to stand it.
Even Faldo quit criticizing him. After Tiger big-leagued him and gave him the cold shoulder, Faldo jumped on the bandwagon and fawns all over him now.
EEEEWWWW ! I’d rather quit golf and start watching NASCAR than give in to that primadonna.

I would say dominating is a stretch but there was no doubt Tiger was going to win that tournament….he absolutely was on cruise control the last two days.
That is laughable if you say Tiger is not a role model because he might curse every so often when he hits a stray ball. I’d much rather have my kid look up to him than some NFL or NBA gun toating pot smoking thug.
He wouldn’t pick across the street to pick you up? This is so laughable…do you know the man? What makes you throw out something this stupid?
The man is the most dominating professional athlete in HISTORY….just enjoy the fact that you get to watch him in his prime.
On a side note can someone explain what the hell
Woody was saying in his press conference that he played better than Tiger on Friday? The point of golf is to put the ball in the hole in the least amount of strokes….if it takes Tiger 63 and you 70…I would say Tiger was better than you that day.
Thanks for joining in Ryan.
What flavor was the kool-aid they made you drink ?
You’re right that Tiger scored better than Woody did … on one of the four days.
One day out of four, Tiger outplayed Woody. ONE.
IF they’d have played $20 nassau’s, Tiger would be paying Woody, but he’d still have the Wannamaker Trophy.
That’s nowhere near dominating. That’s called shooting one round that made the difference.
You are right about the NBA thugs though.. aren’t you ? I haven’t read anything bad about Tim Duncan and David Robinson was pretty good, too.
At least you were right about the NFL, except for Peyton Manning and, oh, say 1500 other guys.
Come back soon and bring better logic !
Last time i checked the PGA Championship is a four day cumulative event. Tiger essentially coasted to the victory this weekend. They could have engraved his name on that trophy Friday afternoon….Tiger knew it, the players knew it and the fans did as well.
All your takes are hypothetical….If Woody would have made a putt…Tiger would have had to make par (which he did)…If they would have been playing a nassua…who cares! They were playing a cumulative event, Tiger had a huge lead, played conservative and won comfortably.
You personal jabs at him are laughable…how many millions and millions of dollars has he raised for southern cali youth with the Tiger Woods Foundation?
Hey Ryan,
I don’t know, how much money has he raised ? How much did he give out of his pocket ?
That’s as laughable as Oprah giving away cars that are donated by the manufacturer ! Didn’t cost her a dime.
That’s as lame as saying Tiger coasted.
And he ain’t giving his money to the kids, he’s getting others to give theirs while he builds his empire.
He even had to get a caddie who wouldn’t demand the usual pay, because he’s cheap, tight and ungenerous.
He got the trophy and that’s what they were there for. But he only outscored Woody one day. One. That’s the fact jack.
Now go get another drink of the kooaid and play with your tinker toys.
Mike,
Illogical thoughts like above are probably a good indication of why nobody reads your blog. I have deleted my subscription!
You think Stevie Williams doesn’t get top pay? Last time i checked he carries the bag of the highest paid player in the history of golf with his own endorsements(due to Tiger. I think the man aint living check to check.
Doesn’t matter if he outscored Woody one or four days…don’t win the tournament for that.
I suppose you agree with Woody that he “outplayed” Tiger on Friday!
Keep hating Tiger….I’d rather enjoy watching history.
Now you’re the illogical one Ryan. Without you here to tell me the truth, I’ll be able to bash Tiger all alone, as according to you, the other 800-900 people who come here everyday don’t count.
You assume to know what Steve Williams makes and I’ll bet he doesn’t get what another player would pay on the take that Tiger makes.
I never said Woody won, only that Woody outplayed him 2 of the four days and tied him on the third day. Those are facts, check the scores.
Did Tiger win ? Yes sir he did and desrved too, as he had the lowest score for the four days, but to say that Tiger coasted or dominated is pure stupidity. PURE.
So long and enjoy the koolaid they feed you in Tigerland.
Mike:
You’re obviously one of those individuals who have an axe to grind about anything. But you should be ashame for berating Tiger for his charitable work by trying to belittle his contribution by saying (without any corroborating evidence) it’s not his money! What’s more important is that because of Tiger’s involvment people and corporations are more than willing to shelve out the bucks in a worthwhile project! It’s not how much that comes out of his pocket that’s important but how much overall that’s collected toward helping those who can benefit! Why don’t you tell us all about your projects to help disadvantaged youth of this country? Why bring Oprah into this? When you can replicate a task of having the influence to have manufactor’s donate over three hundred cars just for the benefit of guests to her SHOW, give me a call, I’ll be your best bud!
As for the PGA, I’m a Tiger fan all the way. I don’t even watch if he’s not playing. But this time around, after Saturday, I was hoping someone would step up and make it interesting so that Tiger wouldn’t get complacent. Tiger completely dominantly! The last two rounds he was on cruise control! He wasn’t even playing competitive golf, he was practicing!
Sunday Austin and Els both had an opportunity to make it closer than it was. Both failed by missing short birdie putts when it could have had an impact. In fact, Austin could have tied for the lead but failed to make a gimme for birdie when Tiger made his second bogey.
Tiger tried to help by repeatedly using his driver where a more conservative choice would have been appropiate. Finally when Tiger saw that no one was going to mount a charge, he closed the door on the 14th with a birdie and hit the fairway on the last four holes in a typical Tiger taking care of business fashion. Els and Austin both wilted down the stretch in comparing their play to Tiger’s. That’s where Tiger DOMINATED!!! Just because he ONLY won by two strokes doesn’t mean it was ever close.
” You’re obviously one of those individuals who have an axe to grind about anything. ”
Uh, no. I’m making a point and refuse to kiss his butt. Golf was great long before he came along and will still be great after he’s gone.
Corporations were giving money to the PGA before he was born, but you and many others think he’s the only reason people come out or give. Wrong. Pure and simply wrong.
Using Oprah was to prove a point, which it seems you missed, because you believe the marketing machine and thinks she actually donated all those cars and money.
Wrong. Pure and simply wrong. Again, I might add.
” As for the PGA, I’m a Tiger fan all the way. I don’t even watch if he’s not playing. ”
That kind of proves my point, so thanks for making it easy. You’re not a golf fan, you’re a Tiger fan. That’s okay with me, so why isn’t it okay with you that I’m not a Tiger fan ?
” Tiger completely dominantly! The last two rounds he was on cruise control! He wasn’t even playing competitive golf, he was practicing! ”
If you actually believe that, you’re clueless. Pure and simply clueless. No if’s and’s or but’s.
The rest of your diatribe doesn’t even deserve to be debated.
To suggest he hit driver to make it closer ( “Tiger tried to help by repeatedly using his driver where a more conservative choice would have been appropiate” ) borders on sheer lunacy.
I suggest counseling or going Tiger-free for a few months to regain control of your hero worshiping tendencies.
Woody shot a lower score on Sunday, in case the facts mean anything to you. As he did on Thursday. Tiger shot lower on Friday and it was a good enough score, one of the best rounds ever in a Major, in my opinion, to win the tournament.
He didn’t dominate and if you actually believe that, you should get a job with the other clueless media types who know diddly squat about golf.
Did Woody dominate when he shot lower scores on Thursday and Sunday ?
I doubt you’d even admit he shot those scores. Do you believe that was a conspiracy to discredit Tiger ?
Tiger won. Pure and simple.
He deserved to win.
The media fawns over him and it sounds like you do too.
That’s okay with me. Feel free to root for whoever you like.
Feel free also, to allow me to point out indisputable facts and not fall down and worship His Royal Eldrickness.
Thanks for coming by and sharing your opinion.
I feel it was senseless and worthless, but I didn’t delete it and I allowed you to speak poorly of me on my own blog.
Why not just start your own blog ? Then you can write a post everyday about Tiger and his greatness.
I not sure if you guys are saying things just for the attention or if you have any common sense.
Don’t go looking for athletes to be role models for your kids that’s your job.
And if they dissapoint you -wake up and smell the roses that’s right they’re only human just like us.
Actually Kevin, I said it just to see if you would comment. It’s all about you !
Glad you came thru and commented. Now my day is made.
I really Don’t understand why people even try to say anything negative about Tiger Woods. He has proven he is the best in his sport with his clubs not his mouth. Most players who speak negative about Tiger will not get as many wins in there entire career as he has today.
You’re right Dale, but you missed the point.
Woody was talking about the media, he didn’t actually say a bad word about Tiger.
To mirror your statement, I don’t know why people who Tiger won’t even acknowledge with a wave or a smile feel like they have to defend him when they think someone may have said something bad about him.
