Stricker Wins Despite Ron Mon’s Prediction

by Mike Sigers on August 26, 2007

Steve StrickerDespite the “international prediction” by my fellow golf blogger, Ron Mon, Steve Stricker wears the title of Champion as he leaves the Barclay’s.

He’s also the lead dog in the FedEx Cup points chase. He might or might not stay there for long, but as the boys from Georgia proved in the Little League World Series, never count out a southerner or a cheesehead, in Steve’s case.

I’m having fun with Ron Mon, as he’s got thick enough skin to take it, but I’ll stay away from the predictions and comments about Tiger for two reasons:

1) He wasn’t in the event.

2) His fans are real fanatics and scream like schoolgirls if you dare disparage his actions in any way, shape or form.

Tiger won The Deutsche Bank Championship last year, so I’d be a fool to bet against him. He’s rested, which I don’t think is a fair part of this whole format, but, hey, controversy garners eyeballs, so I’m going with Vijay. He’s been down, so I believe he’ll find his form and win by 3 shots, over Adam Scott, another previous winner here, with Tiger 1 more shot back and incredibly frustrated because he couldn’t make a putt over 6 feet.

How about you ? What’s your prediction ?
