Because of the flexibility of this format, it does allow golfers to compete at a smaller level during the season. Members may compete with each other when they choose and at a course of their choice. This could be a group of recreational golfers, buddies or co-workers. At the end of the season the best golfers are invited to meet and compete at the year end charity championship. I agree with you. Going back to my high school and college days, the competitions were some of the most fun I've had. That said, there was something special about seeing the entire field in one place, feeling the buzz in the air during a competition and the satisfaction in shaking hands after a successful round.
