Mystic Golf Club, Ancaster, Ontario
Here’s a link to a GREAT review on a beautiful golf course.
I subscribe to the RSS feed of Robert Thompson, who does Going For The Green ( it’s on my Blog Roll ) and I just read this review.
Since I’ve been a AWOL lately, I wanted to give you something to read.
Robert’s a writer, unlike me and does a helluva job with his wordsmithing, unlike me.
Enjoy the review and subscribe to his RSS feed while you’re there.
Leaving a comment with “ Mike Sent Me ! ” would be nice, too.

Mystic should not be open. Tees and greens are good (not great), but the fairways are absolutely horrible (weeds, clover, mud). Not worth $40, never will be worth $95 (the May special), and nobody will ever pay $125. What a huge disappointment.
Hey John - That’s too bad.
Maybe they will realize this and fix the prices, the conditions and their reputation.
Thanks for the comment.
I’m not sure the other John and I played the same Mystic. Although not perfect, I found the overall conditioning good for a new course. The greens were outstanding!! the design was also very good.
Hey John,
I’m glad you enjoyed it.
There is 6 months in between your comments, so maybe that has something to do with it.
Come back soon and thanks for the comment.
Mystic is a golf course with a lot of potential. Opened last year, the course shows its immaturity. Many fairways were somewhat barren and have yet to fill in. Water seemed to be in short supply as the course was quite hard and dry. However, on a positive note - the greens were lightning fast and ran true. Some of the best I’ve played in this area. The layout will be a challenge to high handicappers as long straight drives off the well manicured tee blocks into tight landing areas are a must on several holes. Although many of the holes are challenging there were a few too many up and down holes that lacked character for my liking.
There is very little in the way of facilities. The clubhouse is temporary, little more than a trailer. There is a putting green but that is about it. In summary, at $85 (including cart) Mystic proved to be an interesting track to play. This is a course with a lot of potential for the future. I enjoyed the game and look forward to playing again in a couple of years when the course has matured.
Hey Alan - Thanks for the info. We appreciate your time in commenting and the honest opinion.
Come back again soon.
I have played many courses and mystic was THE best layed out course ever…
Thanks for the affirmation Chris.
I appreciate your comment. Keep coming ’round.
Pretty expensive but overall I liked the course. The 18th hole is awesome. Unfortunately the rest of the course is just average but the new owners are promising improvements.
