www.stanutleygolf.com). He also has a new Facebook Fan Page and Twitter account.

Those who are interested in learning more about Stan Utley can become a fan at www.facebook.com/StanUtley or become a follower at www.twitter.com/StanUtley.

I’m reading his latest book, The Art of Scoring, right now and will have a review in a few days.

The new website and social media platforms will feature current Utley news, instructional photos/videos and special offers. Guests, “fans” and/or followers will now have the ability to communicate directly with Stan or
other fans by posting comments, photos and video, while Utley can directly
respond back to his most loyal supporters instantaneously.

“My friends have asked me to get a little better at communicating what I am doing,” said Utley. “So, with an ‘all-in’ approach I have created my own new website, Facebook Fan Page and Twitter account. So far so good, I am finding these websites helpful and love all of the feedback that I am getting from my friends, fans and followers. Just remember, I am new to this stuff so bear with me a little as I work out the kinks.”

Stan Utley, 47, lives in Scottsdale, AZ and plays out of Grayhawk Golf Club.
He is a member of the PGA TOUR and ranks No. 6 according to Golf Digest’s

Bob and Linda Penett are serious about their scores on the golf course and they want you to be serious too.

They’ve recorded some 20 comedy songs about the topic and you can find them here at the Golf Amnesia website.

I’ve only got 2 or 3 friends who can’t seem to keep up with the number of strokes they take per hole, but I’m afraid they’ll sue me and want me to pay for their therapy if I confront them or pull an intervention.

If you want more info head over to the Golf Amnesia website and sheck it out!

One of the most memorable showdowns in major golf championship history took place at the 1977 Open Championship at Turnberry, when Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson engaged in a historic 36-hole battle for the Claret Jug that became known as “The Duel in the Sun.”

When the 2009 Open Championship returns to Turnberry, Ayrshire, Scotland, next week, the GOLF CHANNEL will chronicle the story of the duo’s epic battle in a special presentation, Duel in the Sun, airing Monday, July 13 at 9 p.m. ET.

The half-hour special includes tournament footage from the original broadcast and features recent interviews with Nicklaus and Watson, third-round leader Roger Maltbie, 1977 U.S. Open Champion and third-place finisher Hubert Green, and several award-winning journalists.

Duel in the Sun will document the Nicklaus-Watson pairing in the final round at the 1977 Open Championship, where they separated themselves from the field. Watson, going for his second major of the year, birdied the 71st hole on Sunday to take the lead for the first time, ultimately finishing one shot ahead of Nicklaus at 12-under-par. Green, who finished 11 strokes back of Watson at 1-under-par, was the only other player to break par for the tournament.

Duel in the Sun will re-air Monday, July 13 at 9:30 p.m. ET and Tuesday, July 14 (Monday night) at midnight ET.

The two-part, GOLF CHANNEL special airing Monday and Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. ET will treat viewers to an intimate look into Nicklaus’ business life and show how he is giving back to the game he loves.

Filmed in high definition, Planet Jack will give viewers unprecedented access on a business trip Nicklaus and his design team took to visit several golf courses currently in development around the world.

“I love designing golf courses,” said Nicklaus in the special. “I love being
involved in the growth of the game and entering new markets.”

Monday’s show will follow Nicklaus and his design team on the first leg of their trip, which takes them from his North Palm Beach, Fla., home to development projects in Japan, South Korea, India and China.

In the show, Nicklaus makes a special trip to China’s Mission Hills Golf Club where, in 1994, he designed the first of their 12 golf courses. There, he receives a lifetime achievement award and also reflects on his relationship with his father and his rededication to golf after his father’s passing.

Tuesday’s episode will feature Nicklaus’ visit to the Seychelles Islands for a day of relaxation and fly fishing. Nicklaus and son, Jack II, will discuss their shared experience at the 1986 Masters, where the Golden Bear won his record 18th major championship.

The next stop will take the team to the Republic of Mauritius, an island nation off the coast of Africa, to survey land for a prospective golf course.

Before arriving at their final stop in South Africa – where he worked on two golf courses under construction – Nicklaus will already have begun laying out the plans for the golf course in Mauritius.

The episode will conclude with the 18-hour journey back to Florida, just in time for his standing tennis match.

Nicklaus Design, a global golf course design firm founded by Nicklaus, has 341 golf courses open for play in 34 countries and 39 states. Among those courses, Nicklaus has directly been involved in the development of 273. With more than 80 percent of his designed courses overseas, Nicklaus logs more than 500 travel hours a year with his design team in helping to grow the game of golf.

As a six year veteran of the U.S. Armed Services, I’m delighted to help announce that Marriott Golf, one of the world’s premier golf operators and the golf management organization of Marriott International, Inc. today introduced the “Fairway Furloughs” Military Golf Program, designed to honor the nation’s Armed Forces.

In celebrating America’s military men and women, and in advance of National Military Appreciation Month in May, the new program provides active, reserve and retired military personnel with tremendous values at 26 acclaimed Marriott Golf courses throughout the United States.

Starting today, members of the armed forces can take advantage of discounted green fees/carts, ranging from just $29 – $69. This program is available after 3 p.m. any day of the week, year round, at participating Marriott Golf courses.

Tee times can be made up to three days in advance, and a valid military ID card must be presented. In some cases, select Marriott Golf properties will even extend the hours that the special offer is available, further enhancing the value of the program and enabling eligible military personnel to experience the Company’s prestigious collection of championship golf courses.

Participating courses in the “Fairway Furloughs” Military Golf Program
include some of the country’s premier championship venues such as Camelback Golf Club, Scottsdale, Ariz.; Doral Golf Resort & Spa, Miami, Fla.; Kauai Lagoons Golf Club, Lihue, Hawaii; and Stone Mountain Golf Club, Stone
Mountain, Ga., among others. In total, 26 golf courses located at 18
Marriott Golf properties will participate in the program, which will provide
military personnel with arguably the greatest golf values in the country
today.

“At a time when the country’s military men and women need our support as
much as ever, Marriott Golf created the Fairway Furloughs program as a
thank-you to members of the armed forces who love the game of golf,” said
Bill Nault, Vice President, Marriott Golf. “In this country, we have hundreds of thousands of active, reserve and retired military personnel who play golf, and we can’t think of a better way to reward their unmatched dedication then to provide great values to play on our collection of championship courses.”

The complete list of Marriott Golf properties participating in the “Fairway
Furloughs” Military Golf Program includes: Camelback Golf Club, Scottsdale,
Ariz.; Desert Springs Golf Resort, Palm Desert, Calif.; Doral Golf Resort &
Spa, Miami, Fla.; Grande Pines Golf Club, Orlando, Fla.; Grande Vista Golf
Club, Orlando, Fla.; Hawk’s Landing Golf Club, Orlando, Fla.; Renaissance
Vinoy Resort, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Shadow Ridge Golf Club, Palm Desert,
Calif.; Starr Pass Golf Club, Tucson, Ariz.; The Rookery at Marco, Naples,
Fla.; Wildfire Golf Club, Phoenix, Ariz.; Cattails Golf Club, Kingsport,
Tenn.; Griffin Gate Golf Club, Lexington, Ky.; Kauai Lagoons Golf Club,
Lihue, Hawaii; Stone Mountain Golf Club, Stone Mountain, Ga.; Crane’s
Landing Golf Club, Lincolnshire, Ill.; Westfields Golf Club, Clifton, Va.;
and Willow Crest Golf Club, Oak Brook, Ill.

Members of the armed forces participating in “Fairway Furloughs” can also
take advantage of Marriott Golf Links, the Company’s golfer loyalty program
that enables Marriott Rewards members to both earn and redeem points for
golf. Members can earn Marriott Rewards points for rounds of golf and golf
retail merchandise purchases. In addition, members can redeem points for
rounds of golf, hotel accommodations, spa experiences, golf instruction, and
more.

He’s a true gentleman when he finishes first and when he doesn’t.

He doesn’t whine or make excuses, he doesn’t get caught throwing clubs, cursing or kicking sand.

He stands up at the mic and tells the truth…like a man’s supposed to do.

He may never win a golf major, but he’s a major plus to our great state and is a major ambassador for the Commonwealth.

Kenny finished 72 holes of golf, at the 2009 Masters with a score lower than all but 2 other competitors.

He finished 73 holes lower than all but one.

That dang 74th hole wasn’t as kind to him, however, and he is listed as Runner Up by the Masters committee.

But in life and in Kentucky, he’s a Champion. A man’s man. A golfer’s golfer.

Thanks, Kenny, for making our golf dreams come true for 72+ holes of dang good golf.

I noticed that he’s playing a new golf driver in ’09, so I went to The Golf Channel’s website and used the golf equipment finder to search for that Taylor Made R9 driver.

I gotta get me one of those dude’s, ’cause it’s hot!

And when I’m down at Country Creek playing a round on one of the most fun courses our state has to offer, I hope Ken and Kenny are around so I can tell them this to their face.

We love you Kenny!

Since Ben owns two green jackets and 17 other PGA TOUR titles, he’s well suited to provide insight to the network’s Live From the Masters news coverage on Saturday and Sunday.

Here’s what Ben has to say about his upcoming stint with Golf Channel:

“I look forward to working with Golf Channel and providing fresh observations about how the golf course is playing and who is playing well. When you start talking about Augusta, you can talk forever. Through its inception, it has been the place for drama and excitement, and you really never know what is going to happen there. That is a part of its mystery.”

“Hopefully, I will help get into the player’s minds about the decisions that they will make on certain shots. As a player for some many years, it requires thought and patience as to how to get those thoughts across to people. What are the players thinking? Are they thinking about the breeze, the elevation change or the contours on the greens? You know, there are just a million things. Playing Augusta is different; you have so much to think about. It is not a prescribed thought process in playing a golf shot.”
