The Best $25 Golf Course In The World

by Mike Sigers on October 16, 2005

Once again I played a round at Christmas Lake Golf Club. I was joined by my friends Todd Waldrip and Bruce Herdt, both from Jeffersonville, IN.

In case you missed it, I did a full review that you can read by clicking HERE.

We were greeted by a cloudless, blue sky and 75 degree weather. Bright sunshine, cool weather, a beautiful golf course and friendly staff were also part of the deal.

The Starter/Ranger/Player Assisitant Chet was waiting on me with a smile and good conversation, while I waited on my friends to hit some warm up shag balls. We’re both St. Louis Cardinal fans, so it’s easy for us to get a good talk going.

I went inside and Tom was there to take my $25 and $4 for range balls. I don’t know where you can find a better golf course for the money, so I’m calling it ” The Best “.

Their rates dropped October 03 and will remain this low thru the end of the year.

Zoysia tee boxes and fairways and slick bent grass greens are paradise for me.

We found the rough to be fair and the sand was raked, before & after we went thru a hole.

The 19th Hole was busy as we made the turn, but they found time to dig up some turkey sandwiches and some GREAT vegetable beef soup. I think the soup was $1.95 and the sandwich combo was about $6.25. Even the food is inexpensive.

I’m telling you right here, right now, there is not a better $25 golf course or golf experience on this planet.

If you think you have one that’s better, send me a write-up and we’ll let everybody in on it.

If you can get to Christmas Lake before the cold weather hits, you’ll not be sorry.

Email me and I’ll meet you there. I will be going back as soon as I can get there.

See you there ! And tell ‘em Mike sent you !

PerryGolf - Customized Golf Tours

by Mike Sigers on August 30, 2005

PerryGolf, a leader in luxury golf travel to the British Isles for more than two decades, is expanding. Starting Sept. 1, PerryGolf will offer customized golf tours to Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Italy. This makes travelling to some of the world’s most spectacular courses as easy as whipping out your credit card and calling a toll free number.

The new destinations mark the first additions to their travel portfolio since Spain and Portugal were added in 1991 and France was added in 2003. This compliments tours to Scotland, Ireland and England, which have been the benchmark their company since it was established by Scottish brothers Gordon and Colin Dalgleish in 1984.

Gordon Dalgleish, president of PerryGolf, says ” Our goal is to provide consistently superior travel experiences. Relationships with highly respected travel partners and the technology infrastructure built into our systems over the past several years make us confident PerryGolf will continue to set the industry standard for distinctive and innovative golf travel.”

These additions come at a time when international golf travel is starting to gain ground. “After a relatively flat period of limited growth since 2001, golf tourism is once again on the march,” says Peter Walton, chief executive of the International Association of Golf Tour Operators.

“New Zealand, Australia and South Africa collectively boast 17 of the ‘100 Best Courses Outside the U.S.’ (2005 Golf Digest rankings),” Dalgleish said. “But most Americans know these courses only by reputation. The opportunity to play these great courses while experiencing such desirable destinations makes these tours especially appealing.”

The newest additions to their lines will join PerryGolf’s massive database of courses and hotels from which travellers can choose. The database is easily accessed from a recently enhanced Web site, (www.PerryGolf.com), where golfers can use their Plan Your Own Tour™ online trip calculator and the new MyGolfConcierge™ feature to find information and assistance to arrange a tour to any of the company’s destinations.

Go by today and book a trip to The Old Course…and then email Mike and take him along !

Golf Rules !

by Mike Sigers on August 13, 2005

The rules of golf, with breathtaking photos. Sounds like a Christmas gift, if I ever heard of one.

I’d love to have one of these, even though I wouldn’t read the rules. Rules are for the others. Not me.

They have discounted these to $10. $25 for a software version. They also have Custom Prints.

The 17th Hole at the Indian Wells Resort print or the 6th Hole at Troon North ( Pinnacle ) would be two of my favorites, in case you wanted to buy me one ;-)
