Do You Play Golf Betting Games?

One of my really good friends goes to Tunica, Mississippi to play golf and gamble.

I only gamble by hitting a 5-iron instead of a hybrid.

That was a joke … a bad one, but a joke.

I do actually play some Nassau’s, some Skins Games, some Greenie’s and some Low Ball-Low Total.

I tend to lose becuase I won’t lie about my handicap.

My buddy also heads out to Vegas every now and then, plays golf and visits the casinos.

To help him out, since he’s a faithful reader, I decided to post a link to a guide to 10 Of  The Best Casinos In The World.

From now on, when he’s in the mood to travel, play golf and gamble, he can just revisit this post, pick a number and go.

Heck, he could even turn it into a bucket list of sorts!

If you’ve visited any of these or played golf around them, leave us a comment and tell everybody about your experience.

Ping Zing and Ping I3 Blades For Sale

Here’s your chance to own a set of Ping irons for a very reasonable price.

Over the winter, I bought 2 sets of irons off eBay. I thought I wanted to get rid of the 3 sets I now have and thought I needed the game improvement help. I don’t and I don’t.

I have need to sell them to pay for another purchase I made last week. It involves a seminar on starting membership sites, which is going to be an addition to our blog network. It was kind of very costly. Very.

I do this to myself, on occasion, to force myself into action, as I’ve been known to sit too long on personal issues, which is 180 degrees different than I do for my customers and clients in my daytime career.

Ping Zing Irons

Set #1 is Ping Zing’s, 3-PW, Black Dot, with Winn Grips that need to be replaced.

The irons are in great shape and I’ll be glad to take an actual picture, if anyone needs to see them. I used a stock picture to remind everyone what Zing’s look like.

I’m asking $200 (firm) and I think I can ship anywhere in the US for $20-$25.

These sell for for more than that on eBay every day, but I don’t want to hassle with an eBay auction if I don’t have to.

And I’d like to reward a loyal Travelling Golfer reader who wants a great deal.

Ping I3 Blades

Set #2 is Ping I3 Blades, with nice, new Winn Grips. They are 2 degrees upright, which is a Green Dot and the are 1/2″ over-length.

I’m asking $250 (firm) for these and again, I’m sure I can ship them in the uS for $20-$25.

The Buy It Now’s on eBay are around $350 on these.

This is your chance to get a great deal on some Ping irons and help out the Travelling Golfer in the process.

Leave any questions you have in the comments section or send me an email.

First come, first served and I’ll be delighted to take PayPal, so you can have some buyers assurance.

In fact, I’d insist on sending you a PayPal invoice, so you and I are both protected.

Thanks for shopping at your friendly, local Travelling Golfer store !

Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park

Dale Hollow Banner
Here’s another golf course in the Kentucky State Parks system.
Dale Hollow State Resort Park has long been a destination of distinction for residents of Kentucky and Tennessee, along with a few other southern states.

Dale Hollow State Park

For many years, it was all about the crappie and bass fishing. Now it’s all about the golf.
From their website :

” Located in South Central Kentucky near Burkesville at Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park. The longest of the new courses, the Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park Golf Course, a $7.8 million investment, plays along hilly terrain. The No. 8 par 5 hole measures 539 yards; its green is framed by a waterfall and small caves. The No. 15 hole is a par 3 and plays over a gorge. The banks to the 61 bunkers are unusually steep. Hole 11 features a large bunker encompassing 3/4 of an acre. “

Dale Hollow
The park is one of many in the state that attract visitors from all over the United States. The Kentucky State park system is well known and respected for their cleanliness, beauty and affordability.

Go by and check out their website and then make a date to enjoy some of the finest golf and scenery in the Southeast U.S.

Yatesville Lake ( KY ) – Eagle Ridge Golf Course

Here’s another great bit of news for golfers in the state of Kentucky.

Over around Louisa, is Yatesville Lake State Park and a fine golf course, called Eagle Ridge Golf Course.

Eagle Ridge Golf Course

” Located at Yatesville Lake State Park in Eastern Kentucky, this course is built on mountainous terrain and features dramatic views. Some holes play downhill with 100 to 200 foot changes in elevation. The par 5, No. 4 hole plays from an elevated tee and is flanked by a creek along the fairway. Hole No. 13, a par 4, plays from a 200-foot elevation to the green surrounded by a rock outcropping and a creek. ”

For those of you who aren’t very familiar with them, the parks that make up the State Park system for Kentucky are among the finest in the nation and always have been.

Here’s the best parts of a press release from the State of Kentucky :

” Golf Digest magazine has named Eagle Ridge Golf Course at Yatesville Lake State Park in Louisa, Ky., as one of the nation’s “Best New Affordable Public Golf Courses” in 2005.

The 6,630-yard, par 71-course, which is carved out of the Eastern Kentucky mountains, ranked third on the magazine’s annual list. A nationwide panel of more than 800 golfers selected the winners based on shot values, design variety, resistance to scoring, memorability and aesthetics.

It’s terrific to receive this kind of recognition and we’re hopeful golfers from all over the state — as well as surrounding states — will want to see why this course is so highly regarded,” said Deputy Parks Director John Kington. “ We offer a package called ‘ Tee’s and Zzz’s ’ that makes it easy for anyone who wants to play Eagle Ridge to couple it with an overnight stay at Jenny Wiley State Resort Park. ”

Eagle Ridge is the fourth golf course operated by the Kentucky State Parks to receive accolades from Golf Digest.

Hidden Cove at Grayson Lake State Park and Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park course were both ranked among the nation’s best new affordable public courses in 2004, at fourth and six respectively. Wasioto Winds at Pine Mountain State Resort Park was ranked fourth in the same category in 2002.

To receive this recognition from such a well known and respected golf publication really validates our courses,” said Dan Strohmeier, the park system’s PGA director of golf. “ With this recent announcement, four of the six courses on our ‘Signature Series’ can now boast of having received Golf Digest awards.”

I’ll be doing a post about all the other golf courses in the State Park system over the next week or two.

I’ve played most of them and always enjoy an overnite stay in one of the Resorts that have cabins or cottages.

The parks have great lodges and the rooms are clean and well done, but a family of 5 does better with more room.

Announcing Marriott Golf.com

Thanks to the wonders of email I just found out about the fairly new service offered at Marriot Golf.

It appears that golfers can select a participating golf resort and book their tee times and hotel rooms instantly, thru the wonders of the web.

From The Wire :

” The new service marks the first time a collection of leading golf resort properties, based throughout the world, have come together to offer a one-stop booking solution that includes both tee times and lodging. Marriott Golf, the golf management organization of Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR), is offering this service in collaboration with GolfHero, a Scottsdale, Arizona-based global technology leader in the golf travel industry, and EZLinks, operator of the world’s largest network for golf reservations. “

I went to their site and it’s visually appealing and if the process that they have you go thru is as easy to navigate as their site is, then they will have a winner.

Go by and check it out and offer up some comments and feedback for all of us.

If you happen to book a vacation to someplace warm, send ol’ Mike a little sunshine.
